Information for College Representatives - Singapore American School "Planning a Visit"
This is an excellent page ... every international high school/secondary school should have a page like this on their website.
Brilliant exemplar.
"We encourage college and university admission professionals to visit the counselors and students of the Singapore American School. In a typical year we welcome well over 200 admission officers. Some come as individuals, others in small groups, and others as a part of of a CIS, Linden, or AEO college fair."

Careers education and guidance for pupils (UK)

Careers education and guidance for pupils (UK)
As a result of the changes at Key Stage 4, young people will be making choices from a broader range of options. They will be making these choices earlier, at 14, and focusing on outcomes at age 19, rather than 16. They will need access to additional support and guidance to help them do this.
All schools currently have a duty to provide a planned programme of careers education through the curriculum to all young people in Years 9-11. This is designed to give them the skills they need to manage their own careers, and be able to ...

Careers Education and Guidance and ICT
http://www.becta.org.uk/technology/infosheets/html/careers.html
Careers education and guidance (CEG) covers a range of processes designed to enable individuals to make informed choices and transitions related to their learning and to their work.
In schools and colleges, CEG and information and communications technology (ICT) share a common interest in equipping students with essential life skills for the world of work. Careers programmes provide an important context in which ICT skills and competence may be developed. CEG can help to explain the relevance of ICT capability as a core skill that will be increasingly in demand by employers.

Careers in the Mathematical Sciences
http://www.ed.gov/databases/ERIC_Digests/ed435950.html
"The more things change, the more they remain the same." This old cliche seems to have much relevance today as it concerns individuals selecting one of the mathematical sciences, including engineering and computer science, as a career choice. Although there has been an increase in career options in the mathematical sciences due to the recent advances in technology and its applications, the number of individuals selecting a career in this field has changed very little.

Working with Resistant Clients in Careers
http://www.ed.gov/databases/ERIC_Digests/ed435949.html
Little has been written about client resistance in career counseling. Much more has been written about client resistance in counseling and psychotherapy literature (Walborn, 1996). Why is this so? One reason may be that some counselors have conceptualized and practiced career counseling as being devoid of process and relationship; career counseling for them focuses mainly on outcomes and methods within a relatively short period of time from one to three sessions.
