The Interactive Whiteboard: The implications for training teachers
Without sufficient training, there are questions as to whether this technology is being used to full capacity and whether it does enhance teaching and learning. Indeed, what does constitute good practice in the use of whiteboards?
This paper is based on a year of full-time research at the University of Hull. Thanks to an award from ?esta?(National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts), the University of Hull has been able to set up the REVIEW Project (Research and Evaluation of Interactive, Electronic Whiteboards).

Why Use an Interactive Whiteboard?
Presentation tools are increasing in popularity for educators who want to share ideas and information with large or small groups of students. Interactive applications are in demand for educators who want to involve their students in learning with technology.
The electronic interactive whiteboard is a device that combines both of these attributes, offering shared learning experiences for large or small groups, as well as for distance learning.

Interactive Whiteboard Evaluation
This paper examines the ways in which the Whiteboard technology was integrated into a numbers of areas in the curriculum during the first half of the Summer term, 2000.
Teachers who volunteered to pilot the technology received minimal training. The technology was applied to existing lesson plans, used with existing software and the Internet and evaluated in terms of the learning and motivational gains of the students.
