AlphaBaby
http://alphababy.sourceforge.net/
My kids love to play with the computer. Unfortunately, they also have the habit of renaming my hard drive to "axlfkaj".
So, I wrote AlphaBaby so they could safely use the Mac without inflicting too much damage!
AlphaBaby lets even infants and toddlers have fun playing with the computer.
Every time a key is pressed or the mouse is clicked, a letter or shape is drawn. Sounds can be played every time something is drawn. Your own sounds and pictures can also be used.
AlphaBaby helps kids to learn letters, plus provides a safe environment for kids to have fun "typing" on the keyboard! Both an application and screen saver version of AlphaBaby are provided.

BabySplat (free download)
http://www.syntap.com/products_babysplat.htm
BabySplat
BabySplat is a free, open-source MS Windows program you can use to give your kids something to do when you step away from an unprotected computer.
Your kids can bang on the keyboard and as keys are pressed shapes and sounds appear on the screen which will (hopefully) safeguard other work you are doing on the computer, or at least distract them long enough for you to grab them away.
This program was inspired by Justin R. Cohen's BabySmash, written years ago for the Mac.

ICT in the Early Years
http://foundation.e2bn.org/
ICT in the Early Years
This web site was started as a result of requests from Early Years practitioners for more help with planning for ICT.
It provides you with the tools you will need to audit your ICT and has supporting documents and examples to help you plan for and develop ICT in your setting.
The principles for learning for the Early Years Foundation Stage are at the heart of our practice. The audit for ICT is therefore based on these principles for learning. You can audit your ICT by following each commitment to the principle, or you can go directly to the supporting documents that are listed above the commitments.

About Tech Tots : BBCWorld Programme Click ... online video July 2006
Can you remember what age you first started to use a computer? Unless you're still at school the answer probably isn't much younger than 7 or 8. But many teachers argue that technology is now an essential part of learning numeracy and literacy, so IT classes are now being offered to children from 18 months. Katie Ledger has been to meet the techno tots.

There are examples available that place the statements into helpful scenarios and context. As you complete the matrix, an action plan, based on your results (which are automatically saved if registered and logged in), is produced. This action plan contains helpful support and guidance, which you may wish to consider.

The Digital Excellence Awards Scheme
http://www.durhameaz.org.uk/easingtonandseaham/projects/dea.htm
The Digital Excellence Awards Scheme
The Digital Excellence Awards are a set of 26 awards divided 13 silver (KS1) and 13 gold (KS2) awards. They have been developed from the National Curriculum 2000 ICT programmes of study and the QCA modules of study for Key Stages1 & 2.
Typically a child works trough the criteria of an award, and once achieves a certificate and badge. For example the Silver Multimedia Award involves the student in learning such how to open a multimedia package, add text, colour and digital images.
We have developed an early years foundation award scheme, which has 4 awards for our nursery, and reception children, which develops into the silver awards (KS1) at Year 1.

Early Years - Foundation Stage (UK)
http://www.qca.org.uk/ca/foundation/
The foundation stage, introduced from September 2000, is a new stage of education for children aged from three to the end of the reception year. It is a distinct stage and important both in its own right and in preparing children for later schooling. Early learning goals provide six areas of learning that lay a secure basis for children's future learning.
The Curriculum guidance for the foundation stage, published in May 2000, is intended to help practitioners plan to meet the diverse needs of all children throughout the foundation stage. It includes sections on aims for the foundation stage and principles for early years education.
