Student response systems
http://byod.northcantonschools.org/uses/student-response
Student response systems (often called clickers) are common tools used in classrooms to give quick assessments and polls to students.
However, many normal mobile devices can be used in place of clickers to do the same thing. Below are some options for using student devices as a student response system.
In this training we explain how to use students' mobile devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) in place of traditional "clickers" for a student response system.

Student response systems (SRSs) : reviews
http://www.techlearning.com/article/31574
Clickers. Audio response systems. Student response systems (SRSs). Whatever you call them, wireless response systems, which allow students to answer questions by means of handheld response pads, are the answer to some teachers’ prayers.
SRSs take the guesswork out of instruction, helping teachers see exactly who understands the material and who doesn’t. But don’t let us sell you on these systems; let the proponents speak for themselves

Quizlet (web 2.0)
http://quizlet.com/
Quizlet (web 2.0)
This web 2.0 website has potential across several languages and different curriculum areas ... not just English!
My mission for Quizlet is to make learning vocabulary not a chore. I know a lot of teachers assign vocabulary to students, but few students actually "absorb" words into their vocabularies after they take their test.
Which kind of defeats the purpose, right? So Quizlet is my response - it aims to make learning fun, thus make learning effective. At the very least, it can help students do better on quizzes and tests even if they don't fully "absorb" their words.
Quizlet is free and will remain free to all users.

Online Grades
http://www.onlinegrades.org/
Online Grades is a free-software project that allows K-12+ student grades and attendance information to be posted onto a dynamic web site.
Online Grades is not a web-based gradebook. Instead, it accepts grade export information from several popular gradebook software programs such as Easy Grade Pro, Gradekeeper, Misty City's Grade Machine, and PGGP and places the grade information online securely.
The Online Grades software is free; there is no software cost to post your grade results online. However, to use the software, both an internet-accessible web server with PHP and access to a MySQL database are necessary. Because of these requirements, Online Grades is commonly set up and configured by a school or district tech person.

Online Grades
http://onlinegrades.sf.net/
Online Grades is a free-software project that allows K-12+ student grades (and soon attendance information!) to be posted onto a dynamic web site.
Online Grades is not a web-based gradebook. Instead, it accepts grade export information from several popular gradebook software programs such as Easy Grade Pro, Gradekeeper, Misty City's Grade Machine, and PGGP and places the grade information online securely.
Student, Teachers, Parents, and Administrators each get their own personal login into Online Grades, which allows them to see all of the grades in all of their classes. If parents have more than one student at a school or district, they only need one parent login to see the grades of all of their students.
The Online Grades software is free; there is no software cost to post your grade results online. Online Grades is free because the software is developed by volunteers and is in-part sponsored by the schools using the Online Grades software.

The Performance Indicators in Primary Schools (PIPS) Project
http://www.pipsproject.org/
The Performance Indicators in Primary Schools (PIPS) Project is one of the family of information systems offered by the Curriculum, Evaluation and Management Centre (CEM Centre) at the University of Durham.
PIPS tracks a number of aspects of schooling as pupils move through the primary sector. We gather data on individual pupils using assessment materials that are quick and easy to administer. These data are processed at Durham and the results passed back to schools. The results allow schools to look objectively at the progress and attitudes of individual pupils. PIPS feedback also enables teachers to judge their schools performance within the context of the thousands of others using the assessments at the same time, whilst protecting the confidentiality of each school. The intention is to promote school improvement by providing professionals with high quality information.
PIPS Assessments are curriculum based and annually reviewed for validity and reliability. They are suitable for use in British schools (including independent settings) and assessments are available for use in overseas schools. Indeed, PIPS is used in 25 countries around the world including Australia and New Zealand.

Tests can be a delight
http://www.eep-edu.org/InnService/Innovation_Profile/InnProf091.htm
Tests can be a delight
Being tested by others can be stressful and depressing. Testing yourself and proving how capable you are makes you feel good.
Before the advent of ICT, self-testing your knowledge and mental skills was not easy.
Paper tests provided few approaches and could not provide feedback, only right answers against which you could compare your answers.
Making online tests available to students is a much more effective way of enabling them to self-test. A wide range of different question styles can now be assessed and marked automatically.
The Learnwise Learning Platform from Granada Learning incorporates Testwise.

Grade Busters
http://www.gradebusters.com/index.htm
Welcome to the home of Grade Busters Teacher Tools - the ultimate electronic gradebook system!
J. Klein Productions Inc. was founded in Colorado Springs by English teacher Jay Klein. In the mid 80?, Jay saw a need for an electronic grade book system that would operate on the Apple II computers the school was using. Grade Busters came to be right after the movie, Ghostbusters, so the connection becomes obvious. It has been a good name in the multitude of grade book names. Grade Busters, on the Apple platform, has outlived hundreds of similar programs, and is still selling today, 12 years later. J. Klein Productions Inc. is one of the top sellers of electronic grade books. One of their biggest selling points is their commitment to free, unlimited, lifetime product upgrades.
