Your iPhone is Tracking Your Every Move
U.K. researchers Alasdair Allan and Pete Warden have announced what has apparently been known in the digital security fraternity for some time: That your iPhone logs your movements and stores this data for extended periods of time.
Allan and Warden have released a desktop app for OS X that shows users a glimpse of the information stored in their phone. Accessing the iPhone backups on the computer, the app draws a map of the data.

Whereoscope : Track Where Kids Are
http://tcrn.ch/ad0ycG
YC-Funded Whereoscope Gives Parents An Easy Way To Track Where Their Kids Are
Whereoscope consists of an iPhone application that runs in the background (you’ll need iOS 4, which enabled background apps).
During an initial setup process, you designate a handful of key locations, or geofences, that your children often visit — their school, home, a best friend’s house, etc. You can elect to receive a push notification whenever your child leaves or arrives at one of these areas.
Your child doesn’t have to actually do anything to check in, so there’s nothing for them to forget. And, if your child were to “accidentally” disable the application, Whereoscope can send you a warning giving you a heads up.

Location-Aware Computing (Whitepaper)
http://bit.ly/crYiNY
Location-Aware Computing (Whitepaper)
Location-aware computing refers to systems that can sense the current location of a
user or device and change behavior based on this location.
The best-known example is the Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation device. Since a GPS device knows its current location, it can give directions to the GPS user for how to get to a new location, and it can update these directions continuously as the device moves.

Location Based Devices and Services
Where's the nearest Starbucks? Where did my children go today after school? How do I get to that new Thai restaurant downtown? What are my friends saying about this new club? If you've ever asked yourself any of these questions or something similar, you were probably able to get the answers you needed just by picking up your mobile phone.
Thanks to the higher availability of GPS-enabled phones among other factors, the LBS (location-based services) market is about to boom big time. In fact, it already is. According to research firm Gartner, the market will more than double this year.
