UK PSHE: Curriculum reform consultation
http://bit.ly/zaHqV
UK Personal, social, health and economic education: Curriculum reform consultation report
Personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education helps children and young people deal with some of the issues they face as they grow up. The aspects covered by PSHE education are central to a person’s wellbeing and include nutrition and physical activity; drugs, alcohol and tobacco education; sex and relationships education; and economic wellbeing and financial capability.
Sir Alasdair Macdonald’s independent review into the provision and status of PSHE education recommended that it become part of the statutory national curriculum at all key stages.
Making PSHE education statutory raises a number of areas of concern for schools, parents and young people. These key concerns include pressures on the curriculum, the role of governing bodies and the parental right of withdrawal from sex and relationships education. This consultation document examines these concerns.

http://www.qca.org.uk/7835.html
About personal, social and health education (QCA UK) PSHE
Personal, social and health education (PSHE) helps to give children and young people the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives. It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.
Learning opportunities could happen across and beyond the curriculum, in specific lessons, and in assemblies, tutorial programmes, circle time, special school projects and other activities and events that enrich pupils' experiences.
The information on these pages will help all those interested in knowing more about PSHE in schools. There are links to the national framework for PSHE and citizenship at key stages 1 and 2, and the national framework for PSHE at key stages 3 and 4.
