The Singapore Memory Project (sg)
https://www.singaporememory.sg/
Gene Tan, Director of the National Library of Singapore talks about the Singapore Memory Project in this one hour #webinar at #lib2013 on 19 October 2013 http://bit.ly/19gAScL
The Singapore Memory Project (SMP) is a whole-of-nation movement that aims to capture and document precious moments and memories related to Singapore; recollections not merely from individual Singaporeans, but also organisations, associations, companies and groups.
The SMP currently involves partners (academic, research and library institutions, heritage agencies, public agencies, private entities and community organisations) and Memory Corps – volunteers who serve various roles, such as helping individuals with difficulties documenting their memories; connecting the SMP to people with memories of key Singapore events, personalities and places; and enrolling more volunteers to join the SMP cause.

Oral History
"Oral history is a method of gathering and preserving historical information through recorded interviews of people about past events and ways of life" (Oral History Association). The term encompasses a wide range of practices that are loosely connected by a common methodology. Oral history methods pair the oldest type of historical inquiry, evoking spoken word responses that predates writing, with relatively modern technologies, audio and video recording.

Using Oral History : Lesson Overview
http://www.loc.gov/teachers/
Using Oral History : Lesson Overview
This lesson presents social history content and topics through the voices of ordinary people. It draws on primary sources from the American Memory Collection, American Life Histories, 1936-1940.
Using excerpts from the collection, students study social history topics through interviews that recount the lives of ordinary Americans. Based on these excerpts and further research in the collections, students develop their own research questions. They then plan and conduct oral history interviews with members of their communities.
