Influences on Modern World

We can still see their buildings,and we hold the Olympic games every four years. Their language has influenced ours and some of their ideas form the basis of our scientific beliefs. We have much evidence of Greek culture still present in our modern world, we can visit ancient remains and hear the myths and legends first told thousands of years ago. The roots of many of our words come from the Greek language. |

In this unit children use their own experience, particularly of being at school, as a springboard to find out about the influence that the ancient Greeks continue to have on our lives. Children use a wide range of sources, including archaeology, to find out about the ancient Greeks and compare a past society with society today. |
