The Lambton worm
http://ngfl.northumberland.gov.uk/english/Lambton/default.htm
The Lambton worm - Literacy activities Activities specifically linked to the objectives for Year 3 and Year 5
'The Lambton Worm' is a song which was originally written in 1867 by C.M. Leumane for a pantomime to be performed at the Tyne Theatre in Newcastle upon Tyne. The text of the song has been used in this project by Northumberland Grid for Learning to create an animated version of the story which can be used in Literacy lessons as an example of a traditional tale. There are currently two dialect versions of the story: Northumbrian and Geordie, plus a new sung version by Stobhillgate First School Ceilidh Band. A Standard English version is also available.

Interactive White Board KS1 Literacy Hour
http://www.learning-circuit.co.uk/pages/content/case_studies.asp?SectionID=19
The use of an Interactive White Board within KS1 Literacy Hour
Pupils at Beatrix Potter JMI school use ICT as a tool in many ways to aid their learning in different curriculum areas. For example they use peripherals such as a scanner to insert a picture they have drawn into a word processing document so that they can input and edit text below it before printing.
It was decided that the extra resource of an Interactive White Board, to go with the projector already in use, would benefit the teaching of aspects of Literacy within Key Stage 1.
They added the multimedia CD-ROM books to their Literacy resources and so extended the experiences of the pupils in regards to texts read and analysed. Therefore the teaching of Literacy to pupils within Year 1 and Year 2 would be complimented by the use of ICT.
