Background
TIPD - Teacher's International Professional Development is a UK "Short Study Visit Programme" funded by the UK DfEE and administered by the UK Technology Colleges Trust.
The ESF has agreed to help with the administration of a visit from Wigan and Essex teachers to Hong Kong in April 2001.

- most if not all of the schools to be visited have websites ... tour members are advised to have a browse around the sites before the visit to familiarise themselves with the schools beforehand. Programme
- Wed 18 April 2001:
- p.m. : arrive in HK 13:20 Cathay Pacific CX250
- airport details: recommended that each member picks up a welcome pack from the HK Tourist Association stand just before immigration. Then go through immigration and customs... immediately after customs is a greetings area ... Nick VP will meet you there. Recommended that you try and stay awake rather than sleep in the afternoon... reduces the jet-lag.(usually)
- 3:00 : hotel check-in ... each person will be asked for an imprint of their credit card to cover the cost of any additional items/meals they buy in the hotel. The rooms only are paid centrally not meals or minibar. Also ask for a hotel name card each ... and keep at all times ... then if you ever get lost just get in a taxi and show the card.
- rest of day : free time for all... highly recommend getting on a tram (just one block) from the hotel .... and sit upstairs and look at the views... when you get to the end of the line just get off and come back again... you need the correct change.

- Thur 19th:
- 8:30 : bus leaves the hotel for South Island School
- 9:00-10:10 : Orientation at South Island School ... SEMINAR Room 6/F
- 10:10-10:30 : Tour around the school with Y8 student guides
- 10:30-11:00 : Break
- 11:00-3:00 : with SIS staff in school (inc lunch using the school canteen) then in the afternoon session in the library for the school's information skills programme.
- 3:00 : bus leaves the school to return to the hotel

- evening 7:30pm : meet in the hotel foyer ... we will walk to the restaurant, evening meal with ALL at 'American Restaurant' Lockhart Rd ... Beggars Chicken, seaweed and Peking Duck .. bring your camera (digital?) ... as guests of the ESF.

- Options : free if needed but some options/suggestions are (more details on arrival)
- tour with Chris Smith .... meet 8:45 at Braemar Hill, walk across HK Island to Tai Tam reservoir (3 hours/need confortable shoes/shorts would be OK), short bus ride to Stanley, lunch in beacj front pub .... afternoon free to shop around Stanley market (great for souveniers) .... public transport back to the hotel.

- lunch : have an early lunch .. arrange individually
- 12:15 : bus leaves the hotel for Hong Kong International School
- bus will drop off primary staff at HKIS in Repulse Bay first, the contact is Francis Thong, IT Administrator tel: 9401 5787and then
- secondary move on to Tai Tam Campus, contact is David Elliott (Technology Co-ordinator) tel:2813 9211
- tour of HKIS, meet students, talk with staff
- 4:00 : bus leaves Tai Tam site, picks up those in Repulse Bay & returns to hotel
- evening : meal .. trip to floating restaurant Aberdeen bus leaves the hotel at 6:00 .. another opportunity to use the digital camera... members make their own way back to the hotel after the meal (advice will be given)
- Tues 24th:
- 8:45a.m. : bus leaves hotel for St Pauls Convent School school contact is Sister Margaret Wong (Principal)
- 12:00 : bus leaves St Pauls to return to Wharney
- 1:00 : check out from the Wharney Hotel bus to Chek Lap Kok Hotel
- 2:00 : check in to the Regal Airport Hotel at Chek Lap Kok

- Wed 25th:
- 8:00 : bus leaves the hotel to J.C.Sarah Roe Centre, Homantin, Kowloon.
- 8:45-12:00 : whole group feedback to each other, evaluation, build your website much of this session will actually be at Kowloon Junior School(next to JCSRC)
- 12:15 : bus leaves JCSRC back to the hotel
- 2:00pm : official checkout time (unless late checkout arrangements made)
- 2:00-8:00 : free.. last opportunity to shop until you drop
- at airport : 22:00 check-in .. but there is also an early check-in option at the airport .... then group meal in one of the restaurants before immigration ... look at duty free (but not too many bargains!)
