Music Looper
http://www.musiclooper.com/
Super Duper Music Looper is an amazing new program that allows you to create music on your PC. Using a paintbrush, an erase tool and a mouse, it's a fun and easy way to make songs come alive. How does it work? Just grab a few instruments or musical building blocks called loops, paint them on the screen and before long you'll have a complete song. It's that easy. Best of all, you don't need to know anything about music. All you need is Super Duper Music

Composing with Computers Spring 2003
http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Music-and-Theater-Arts/index.htm
MIT's OpenCourseWare - Composing with Computers Spring 2003
In this course we will use computers and computer-aided technology as compositional tools, that is, as a means to music-making and an avenue to approach musical and acoustic concepts. Each unit of study will consist of a series of short composition projects using specific types of hardware and software in clearly delineated ways. This will involve (in broad order) live recording and digital editing, digital processing, analog sound synthesis (real and virtual), MIDI sequencing, and building interactive environments. The course will culminate in a large, final composition and a public concert during the last week.

Music Box from Topologika
It's just like painting on the screen, except that instead of creating a work of visual art, your pupils will in no time at all be exploring sounds, pitch, rhythm, and composition.
Music is a demon for some teachers. If you're not a confident musician it can be difficult to get things going, and even if you are, you need to incorporate ICT. Music Box 2 tackles these frustrations head-on, while encouraging pupils to THINK, create and explore?
MusicBox 2 is the definitive pre-notation music software in thousands of schools in the UK. The enjoyment and learning young musicians get from it is limited only by imagination.

Music ICT Resources at Kent NGfL ... a very useful collection for any music teacher.
Using ICT in music lessons is not statutory at Key Stage 1, but the National Curriculum Order for music does encourage worthwhile use of ICT.
There is a statutory requirement to use ICT in music at Key Stage 2 and it should be used to ?recall), capture, change and combine sounds?

Music Factory from Logotron
Play music in realtime - Play in 'live' mode to explore the different sounds and combinations before building up a composition to save.
Music factory gives an ideal foundation to computer-based music making, introducing concepts and processes found in more advanced sequencing packages. Music Factory allows all non-musicians to produce compositions quickly and easily, by building patterns and sequences. All the sounds within each style have been selected so that they 'fit together'.

Pupil Entitlement to ICT in Music
http://vtc.ngfl.gov.uk/docserver.php?docid=996
The statutory requirements of the National Curriculum Order form the basis of a pupil's entitlement to ICT in music.
Many forms of technology can be used, such as CD-ROM, electronic keyboards and synthesisers, sound processors, computer software, editing facilities, the Internet, MIDI sequencers, word-processing and graphics packages.
Much can be achieved through the skilful use by pupils of good quality portable tape recorders. However, more extensive use of ICT, when available, can further support and enhance musical learning.
Specially designed hardware and software is available, for example, to enable those with limited physical control or sensory impairment to participate.
